Bittersweet Celebration of Truth
Canada’s own version of the Handmaid’s Tale was finally exposed by the Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology in July 2018. The report, ‘The Shame is Ours’: Forced Adoptions of the Babies of Unmarried Mothers in Postwar Canada, included four recommendations, the first of which was especially important as it set the tone for what is to follow: That the Government of Canada issue a formal apology on behalf of all Canadians to the mothers and their children who were subjected to forced adoption practices in the years following World War II. Our hope is that a federal apology will set the tone and encourage the provincial governments and all other organizations involved to also offer an apology, as was accomplished in Australia, following the national apology in 2013. This admission of guilt on the part of the government only reinforces the need for healing and support for all those impacted by this traumatic event.
My career path was somewhat influenced by my personal journey to heal the pain of separation from my firstborn child and sharing my discoveries became my life’s purpose.
I am a certified metaphysician, relationship counselor and licensed psychic practitioner. I run a holistic counselling service in Calgary, Alberta. My goal is to help people find meaning and purpose in their lives. To this end I have created a model that incorporates Eastern Wisdom & Western Psychology. Throughout the last 30 years I have offered guidance to individuals to become aware of what might motivate their choices and decisions as reflected in: Relationships, Careers, Finances and Health. My expertise also extends into family dynamics, whereby I provide Individual and Family Charts, including step-families.
In 2004, when adoption files were finally opened in Alberta, and since the topic of adoption was still very much shrouded in secrecy, I realized that professionals were not trained to deal with the issues surrounding adoption reunions. So I went to work. I devised a method that would provide support and guidance for families facing the ongoing challenges of post-adoption reunions. For me, this provided the opportunity for my personal and professional experience to merge.

Your Family Tree is part of You
When adoptees find their biological roots, most of them also discover their true birth order. Psychological research has shown a direct link between the place a child occupies in the sibling unit and certain ‘role’ behaviours and outlook. Sometimes they also discover the name that their natural mothers had given to them. These and numerous other details will help to form a more complete picture to connect them to their origins and sense of identity. However, for both mother and child, this will also demonstrate that even our identity is not static.
Your inherited psychology that came from the psychological, emotional and spiritual components of your family tree (genealogy) has remained intact even if you were raised in a different family.
Psycho-genealogy can help you find similarities and reconcile differences between your biological and adoptive families. Discover the connection between life events, dates and names in your family tree as these things form the invisible links that support you.
